“I'm so excited to be selected for #ALEx14 to experience Grand Teton National Park. I'm especially excited to learn all about the American Latino culture, history, and contributions that are honored and celebrated across the National Park System. Looking forward to making new life-long friends while on this incredible journey together.”
Yvette Marquez-Sharpnack draws culinary inspiration from her grandmother's old-world northern Mexican recipes and her mother's comforting south of the border home-style dishes. Though she writes primarily about her culinary adventures on her award-winning blog, MuyBuenoCookbook.com, she also is a professional recipe developer, YouTube vlogger, and is the co-author of Muy Bueno: Three Generations of Authentic Mexican Flavor. Besides her blog, Yvette has also been featured in Latina Magazine, People En Español, Cosmopolitan for Latinas, and the websites of TODAY, NBC Latino, SAVEUR, Siempre Mujer, and Gourmet, among others. She has devoted her life to her three passions. First, above all else is her family. But when she is working, she is devoted to developing healthy Latin-inspired recipes, and to educating others about how to enjoy traditional cultural cuisine in a healthful way while keeping traditions alive. In 2012, Yvette was chosen to participate in an intimate round-table discussion with First Lady Michelle Obama to discuss issues impacting Hispanic families across the nation, including the growing potential of childhood obesity and diabetes. She lives in the beautiful state of Colorado with her husband and two children.
